Quesos De La Huz gets 2 medals at 2015 World Cheese Awards

Gold for Don Cayo Aged Manchego Cheese and Bronze for De La Huz Goat and Sheep Cheese Aged in Lard

December 2015

La Mancha cheese maker ‘Quesos De La Huz’ submitted two cheeses to the latest World Cheese Awards, held in Birmingham on November 26, and both received awards.

Don Cayo Aged Manchego Cheese received the Gold Medal in its category. It is a cheese made with pasteurized milk from Manchega sheep that is aged for approximately 8 months. Its excellent quality had also been recognized in previous editions of the World Cheese Awards (taking silver in 2008 and 2009), as well as other national and international awards.

De La Huz Goat and Sheep Cheese Aged in Iberian Lard took bronze in the category of cheese made with milk from more than one animal. It is an excellent cheese made with raw goat and sheep milk and aged in lard from Iberian pigs for 6 to 8 months, using an old artisanal ageing technique.

This prestigious contest, considered the world series of cheese, received 2,727 submissions of cheeses from more than 30 countries around the world. The verdict of the judges, representing various nationalities from all over the planet, was announced on November 27.

This award adds to the ‘Quesos De La Huz’ trophies, with more than 20 awards in its 25 years in business.
